EARS Wide Area Net

THE NET HAS BEEN SUSPENDED DUE TO REPEATER REPAIRS. LOOK FOR IT TO RESUME IN THE FALL.

The net is a chance for amateurs to get together and get to know each other in a group format.  It is also a place to provide information.  The EARS net is NOT a traffic net, emergency net, or weather net like other traditional nets.  While traffic or weather may be handled during emergency situations, the net is designed to:

  1. Test the coverage area of the repeater, and:
  2. Provide news and information.

So, we do not call for traffic or comments on this net.  We DO ask for your location, so we can get a feel for the coverage area.  We DO ask for your name, so we get to know you better.  And, we DO provide news and information, especially through the Newsline radio bulletin service.

The net is Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. Central Time on all EARS repeater network repeaters (145.15- in Evansville, 146.925- and 443.925+ in Vincennes.   Use 107.2 CTCSS if possible.)

Check ins are taken one repeater at a time.  This is for two reasons: 1.  to avoid as much doubling as possible (talking over someone on the other repeater), and 2. to get an idea of the coverage of each repeater.  When checking in, please wait until the repeater you are using is called.  Please respond with your callsign, name, and location.

Announcements are then made after check-ins.  Any AMATEUR RELATED event can/should be announced, such as hamfests, testing opportunities, meetings, get-togethers, etc.

After announcements, the Newsline bulletin service is played.  Newsline is updated each Friday, and is also available in text form or in mp3 format on their website.

If you didn't check in before Newsline, we'll give you one more chance before the net is over.

Net controls, you can find a copy of the script here.
